Pectin is a natural component of the cell walls and middle lamella of all higher land plants. It is extracted from the residues obtained after the juice squeezing – apple or citrus pomace. Pectin is a natural gelling agent, thickener, stabilizer, and encapsulating agent. In the classification of additives, it is listed as an E 440 food supplement.
Pectin also has many useful properties for the human body: it absorbs and removes toxins, heavy metals, and radionuclides from the human organism. Pectin can improve metabolism, lower blood cholesterol, as well as stabilize the microflora.
