Pectin

Pectin is a natural component of the cell walls and middle lamella of all higher land plants. It is extracted from the residues obtained after the juice squeezing – apple or citrus pomace. The main T.B. Fruit Group of Companies activity is apple processing, so we are always provided with fresh, high-quality raw materials for pectin production and we produce apple pectin by ourselves.

Pectin is a natural gelling agent, thickener, stabilizer, and encapsulating agent. In the classification of additives, it is listed as an E 440 food supplement.

Pectin also has many useful properties for the human body: it absorbs and removes toxins, heavy metals, and radionuclides from the human organism. Pectin can improve metabolism, lower blood cholesterol, as well as stabilize the microflora.

A large number of useful properties make pectin a universal ingredient in a wide range of products: in the food industry, pectin is used in the jams, sweets, bakery products and dairy products production. In the non-food sector pectin widely used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.

Pectin had imported to Ukraine until 2019. In the fall of 2019, T.B. Fruit first Company in Eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine, launched the pectin production in Horodok, Lviv region. The decision to engage in pectin production was quite predictable, as Group of Companies activity is apple processing, so we are always provided with fresh, high-quality raw materials for pectin production.

A new modern pectin plant was building for two years. During this time, innovative technologies for pectin production have been applied and tested. The plant capacity is 3 thousand tons of apple pectin per year. Today T.B. Fruit is the world’s third-largest apple pectin producer and the only one apple pectin producer in Eastern Europe. The total production of pectin in the world is 40-45 thousand tons.

The pectin producers “club” includes only 7 companies in the whole world: CP Kelco, Cargill, DuPont, H & Fox, and others. Only two of them produce apple pectin, given that very much complex technological production. The first company to enter this market, converting production waste into pectin, was the Chinese company Andre Pectin.

T.B. Fruit became the second company with a full production cycle. Other producers are not fruit processors, so they cannot be confident in the quality of the raw materials as we are.

T.B. Fruit is planning to increase production capacities. Soon we plan to produce about 10% of pectin in the whole world.
